      <title>Godfathers of Flash making a green box</title>

 <description>

I was mucking about on about 4 or 5 different things at once and ended up back at this post. I was really curious about what the &quot;Godfathers&quot; of Flash were up to when I read that post over a year ago, and it seems like the question has been answered and I apparently missed it. So here&apos;s what they&apos;ve been up to.. &quot;The Greenbox™ Home Energy Manager empowers homeowners to understand and manage their energy consumption. With knowledge of their energy use, consumers can take proactive steps to conserve energy, understand their impact on the environment, and save money.&#8230;

      <title>Adobe Open Screen Project</title>

 <description>

wow..... the announcement today from Adobe about opening the Flash Player up to the market to be placed on any imaginable device is just stunning. This is going to place even more demand on people with Flash skills as these companies begin to produce handheld devices using the Flash Player. The only thing in the press release that set off my BS detector was this.. &quot;“The Open Screen Project will make it simple for Verizon and our partners to deliver rich mobile experiences to more devices,”&quot; .. yeah, and how big of a fee will they charge developers before they&#8230;

      <title>update on MXNA</title>

 <description>

Mike Chambers posted an update on his blog about the rebuilding&#45;moving&#45;updating of MXNA. I&apos;ve been getting my fix from fullasagoog for a while since MXNA was beginning to be overwhelming.

Oh.. some random things.. Gregarius, Rubicon .. I&apos;ve been having some fun with those.

      <title>Flex Camp Charlotte or RTP?</title>

      <link>http://oddhammer.com/index.php/site/flex_camp_charlotte_or_rtp/</link>

 <description>

I was just poking around looking for info on Flex and found that Adobe has info on how to put together a Flex Camp ( see the guide here ).&amp;nbsp; And I&#8217;m wondering how much interest there would be in one of these in either Charlotte or RTP?&amp;nbsp; I haven&#8217;t seen anything from the Charlotte Adobe users group on this, but maybe it&#8217;s in the works (it&#8217;s been a long time since I&#8217;ve been to a meeting..). It just seems like the mid&#45;Atlantic gets overlooked for most conferences and the like (but the AIR bus stopped in NC!) and here&#8217;s&#8230;

      <title>Looking at SWF metadata</title>
      <category>Flash&#45;General</category>
      <link>http://oddhammer.com/index.php/site/looking_at_swf_metadata/</link>

 <description>

I saw the recent post about the XSS vulnerability if a SWF was published from an old application (old news..).. here.. and it reminded me that a while back I was looking for a way to read the SWF metadata from within the SWF. I can&apos;t go into why.. but at the time I couldn&apos;t find a way to do it. I&apos;m sure it could be hacked pretty easily but didn&apos;t see a direct and easy way to do it. Metadata can be read from the SWF header by a web server serving up the SWF by using PHP, ColdFusion,&#8230;

 <description>

The other day (when I was finally getting out of a month or so of fog..) I wrote kind of (heh..) a rambling post and I got a couple of IMs from Phillip Kerman encouraging me to do &quot;why&quot; videos for a little therapy. lol.. yep. I&apos;d looked at his &quot;why&quot; vids a while ago and laughed so hard I almost stomped on my dog (you know.. laughing, stomping feet, dog right at my feet.. ah.. nm) and so I listened to him. I don&apos;t think I have the time each day to devote to making the vids like he&#8230;

      <title>Online Community Grid &#45; Flash based grid computing</title>

 <description>

Check out The Online Community Grid..&amp;nbsp; a grid computing system using Flash Player instances as people browse around the web.&amp;nbsp; I&#8217;ve heard rumblings of other projects that ran along these lines, but can&#8217;t recall one that was up and running.

The code is up on the Google code thing so you can dig around in it and see what it&#8217;s doing.&amp;nbsp;

Some interesting stuff there..&amp;nbsp; it&#8217;s something to keep in mind for later projects and it&#8217;s fun to see people continuing to push the boundaries of what Flash is supposed to be.

 <description>

Over the years I&#8217;ve seen a lot of ways to produce SWFs.&amp;nbsp; Some options were commercial (Generator, Kinetic Fusion, Turbine, Flex, etc..) and some not (Ming, Jzox, etc).&amp;nbsp; I even did a little hack where I used the command line to fire up the Flash IDE and pop out a customized SWF at will.&amp;nbsp; I was just experimenting and didn&#8217;t use that in a production environment of course and it was all legal like since I was using my one copy of Flash on my own system, etc..&amp;nbsp; but it was sort of fun in a Frankenstein way to hit&#8230;

I&apos;ve had a rough time lately and the old blog has been neglected but I think I&apos;m back to the point that I can focus on it. I&apos;d rather not go into personal specifics and all that stuff here on the Interwebs, but I can say I have a good story if you catch me at FlashForward or some other conference and ask me about it.. Oh, and I am planning on being at FlashForward. It&apos;s been a while since I had a breather and had time to go to a conference so I&apos;m looking forward to it. I&apos;ve been&#8230;

I&apos;ve been sitting on the sidelines of the democratic process in the US for oh.. about 20 years. I&apos;ve voted, but I&apos;ve never donated to a campaign, never put a bumper sticker on, never really gotten involved in it. I&apos;ve always voted for the lesser of two evils and had just written the whole 2008 election off. I figured the Democrats would win this election (the online gambling sites and polls agree). However, this election I see something very, very different happening and it&apos;s actually scaring the crap out of me. What I see happening is a clear, blatant, and&#8230;
