I finally got a license for Flash CS3 (yeah, these things take time) and was able to move over to my mac pro full time. That meant swapping cables around and finally dropping in the extra graphics card so I could hook up my third monitor. I plugged it in and the system wouldn’t boot at all. nada.
The folks at the local Apple store were great and swapped the faulty graphics card out for a new one. While I was there I got to play with the iPhone a little. Next time my life isn’t complicated enough I’ll swing by and pick one of those up. I think I could lose myself for a week tinkering with all the stuff on the iPhone. I also got to stand at the “genius bar” a while and observe. I’m convinced now that Apple stores are a portal into another universe.
Anyway, so the purpose of this post.. oh yeah.. so after dropping the graphics card in I was greeted with this:
notice that “Running below maximum speed” bit…
It kind of shows that here in the docs but it’s far from what I was told at the Apple store when I picked up the mac pro. Then it was “oh yeah, you can run 4 graphics cards in there if you want” with no mention that it wouldn’t be able to give full bandwidth to all of them. Ah well. It’s still spanks my old PC.

Welcome to the Mac world! I just came back to it myself a couple months ago, and I still get a little dizzy upon entering an Apple Store (Next time you're in there, though, take a spin on the iPod Touch, too -- it's got all the calories of an iPhone without that bitter AT&T;aftertaste.
Having a MacBook Pro, I wouldn't know anything about the multi-graphic card issues, but regardless, looks like you've got a sweet setup now. Enjoy!
