There's a new video distribution site out there now.. Veoh.com currently allows free upload and access to videos. It looks like they're aiming for it not to be just a new peer to peer sharing system (which it is) but also a full on distribution system that might replace traditional tv/movie/video distribution systems. Their FAQ page is an interesting read and shows that they aren't afraid to diss BitTorrent (blasphemy!) are indeed still in beta.. stuff like
The Veoh.com web site and catalogue work with Internet Explorer (version?) or higher, Firefox (version?) or higher and Safari (version?) or higher.
The Veoh client software is available for Windows XP (did we add 2000?) and Mac OS X version 1.3.9 or higher.
But check out the How does Veoh Work? section.. it says they're using some trick peer to peer technology to spread the files around and share bandwidth.

The next section about PeerCasting is the kicker though.. with this:
Most peer-to-peer networks are built to enable piracy of various forms of content, including video. PeerCasting makes this almost impossible, by preventing piracy up front.
So far there's a few good videos on there to look at, and they're using the Flash Player8 for previewing the videos online. You have to download their client which uses the codecs from Windows Media Player and Quicktime (both.. on both win and mac) to view the video in "high quality" full screen glory.. oh yeah.. and they also have an easy way to get those videos that you download onto your ipod or psp.
